Sweet Country Infants Crochet Pullover Sweater

Sweet Country Crochet Pullover Sweater

Yesterday evening I was watching Netflix and crocheting. I wanted to make a sweater for my daughter since it's been sort of chilly. I wanted to add my touch to it and after searching and searching the internet for a pattern I finally found one on YouTube.

Wooly Wonder's Crochet has a great video tutorial in two parts. I loved the way she explained into detail how to do each row. It's a really great for a beginner crocheter who is learning how to switch colors and making their first sweater for a baby.

Note: She does make an error in the count so don't freak out. She clearly states it in her video and corrects it but this note is just to give you a head up before you decide to make a mean comment or have negative feedback. She's really awesome and we are not in partnership. I am simply sharing what I made and crediting her for her work.

Here is part two:

Adding the lace trim:

Update 01/18/2017: I tried the sweater on my baby and it fit her perfectly fine except the lace trim at the bottom was a little to tight and didn't stretch with her so I would recommend pleating it and sewing it vs. using the hot glue gun so that it can be as wide as the sweater bottom itself.

What I did after I made the sweater body and sleeves was add a row of single crochet to the edge and that is where I stopped and weaved in all the ends.

I used the glue gunned the lace trim to the bottom and at the end of the sleeves. I used the single crochet row as a guide for a straight line to glue on the trim. After this experience I would recommend sewing on the trim but for some reason I am not such a great sewer so therefore I used the hot glue gun.

I  made a bow with the gray faux leather and hot glue gunned it as well to the sweater at the middle of the neckline in the front.

I am in love with the way it came out! I will be pairing this with a pair of pink leggings, pink boots, and a pink headband for my 8 month old. I'll post a picture later as an update!

Below are the items that I used for this project:

I used a Yarn Bee's Brushworks Yarn in Silver that I purchased from Hobby Lobby in TN, USA for $5.49 with the 40% off coupon. This yarn is a mixture of acrylic and alpaca fiber. I listed an image's rather soft but a little scratchy to put on skin to skin contact so I am putting on a light long sleeve onesie underneath this sweater when she wears it.

The lace trim I bought at Hobby Lobby as are some pics of it below. It's it listed as an Ivory Lace Trim 2" for $4.99, I bought this on a separate trip and it was on sale but it comes with 2 yards of lace so it's plenty for a baby sweater.

For the leather bow I used the gray faux cord in a multi pack I purchased at Walmart for about $3.00 with no discounts. Here is a similar pack close to what I bought. The brand name is Cousin and it faux suede cord.

Please let me know if you have any questions! I would be happy to help!

2017 is here!!!

I am 14 days late for this announcement but...

2017 is here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, that was just for you all! Ha ha! I can fake excitement...not that I don't mind another year. I am truly blessed to be here typing and sharing my life and creations with you.

So many things changed for me in 2016 but like Edna Mode from The Incredibles movie says:

My goals for this year include many but like my mother used to say, 'Actions speak louder than words.' Or is that everyone's mother? As I sit here, I am thinking of everything I would like to accomplish while at the same time working my two little ones in the mixture without affecting their comfort or life with me.

Being a parent has to be the best thing that ever happened to me. I love every minute I spend with them and I am so proud that they have learned more than just cuss words while hanging out with me. I honestly have to say that I didn't get here with my strength alone. I couldn't have lived every day without God's unfailing mercy and love. I also couldn't have gone through each day without the wise words of my mother. I feel like I am giving a speech for winning an Oscar ha ha! Life is a book I read on a quote on Pinterest. Or even a movie at times. You have to live it like you will be reading it or watching it later. So that is what I will do this year, Lord willing.

Today my loves is a mere most of what is to come...lots and lots of the patterns and lots and lots of action! (Who's seen The Pink Panther?)

I wish everyone a Happy New Year full of great beginnings and endings! Remember that the ending can be the start of something totally awesome!
