Despicable Me Minion Crochet Set

Despicable Me Minion Crochet Set
-Booties, Overalls/ Dress, and Hat

My sister in law in getting ready to have a baby boy sometime this month or early October and I just wanted to give her something sort of unique. She loves taking professional pictures of her family and decided to make her a photo prop for her baby shower. Of course, she looovveedd the set!

I love the photos that I have seen for the Despicable Me Minion hats! Aren't they so freaking adorable!?I had actually made two sets because my sister had a baby shower to go to for her sister in law and she have this to her niece as a baby shower gift as well! She mentioned they loved it too! Here is what they turned out like.

Now, I didn't come up with these patterns! I am going to give you the links to the patterns that I used in just a moment. They are easy to follow and I have also added written pattern for the bow and eyes.

For the overalls:

The dress I made was with this pattern however I made a foundation crochet row of 60 and joined; then I followed the pattern as instructed but didn't add the pocket.

For the booties:

For the hat:

Rows one through five I used yellow, I made Row 6 black, and for Rows 7-11 yellow. I didn't add the ear flaps as you can see but I did add a row 11 of SC and completed with an invisible join.

For the grin:
I just sewed it can use your imagination. I have seen felt being sewed/ glued on and embroidered, I guess its a matter of preference.

For the bow:
You will need:
US H/ 5mm Hook
Pink Yarn

Row 1: Chain 8, Ch 1, SC into the next 7 chains.
Row 2-8: Ch 1, SC into the next 7 sts.
Fasten off and weave in the ends. Now get your yarn needle and get a 20" or so tail and pinch the middle of the rectangle piece. Insert the needle to bunch the middle together, now wrap the yarn around the middle piece until you are comfortable with the thickness, weave in the end.

For the eyes:
You will need:
US H/ 5mm Hook
Black, White, Brown, and Gray Yarn
Yarn Needle for Weaving

Row 1: Using black yarn make a magic ring, ch 1, make 6 SC into the ring, pull loose end snug and join to the first SC made, fasten off, you will now switch to the brown yarn. (6 SC)
Row 2: Ch 1, make 2 SC into the same st as join, and into each st around, fasten off, you will now switch to white yarn. (12 SC)
Row 3: Ch 2, make 2 DC into the same st as join, make a DC into the next st, *2 DC into the next st, 1 DC into the following st*, end with a DC into the last stitch, fasten off, you will now switch to gray. (18 DC)
Row 4: Ch 1, make 2 SC into the same st, make 1 SC into each of the next two sts, *2 SC into the next st, 1 SC into each of the following two sts*, end with a SC into the last st, join to first SC and fasten off.

You have completed one eye, repeat the pattern for multiple eyes and I hot glued these to match the black part of the eyes onto the hat.

I am making another set for a friend and I will be adding photos tutorials for the eyes as soon as I can but for now hope this helps in making a Despicable Me Minion Set of your own!
