Two Toned Mary Jane Crochet House Slippers Tutorial

Hello! Good afternoon.....I am so excited about sharing this Mary Jane Slipper pattern with you! ☺ My children and hubby love these house slippers because they are so comfortable! (Plus, easy for me to make  lol ;) For this project you are going to need:

  • Yarn Needle (for weaving)
  • (2) different colors of yarn. For my slippers I chose Caron Simply Soft  4 ply Acrylic Yarn, in Lime Light and Grey Heather. (You can use any 4ply, medium weight yarn such as worsted weight and merino. This Caron was on sale, so...thus the acrylic! ☺)
  • Hooks: 4.25MM for size US 7-8, 5.5MM hook for US size 8-9, 6.00MM for US size 9-10, 6.5MM hook for size 10-11. (Customize this slipper to fit your shoe size by measuring your foot length to see where you need to stop when making the body and heel.)

Abbreviations:

Row 8: Ch 3, DC into the next 22 sts, ch 11 sts and sl st to top of ch 3. (34 sts)

Row 16: Ch 2, HDC in each st around, sl st to top of ch 2 to join. (23 (HDC)

Closing the heel:
Fold the slipper inside out like so. Pinch the stitches together making sure that the stitches on each side meet. Seam the heel by single crochet to the bottom of heel. Once complete chain 1, and sl st back to the top of the heel. To not cut the yarn off just yet............

Finishing off:
SC along the side of the slipper. When you come to the strap, make 2 SC into the first chain, make one SC into the next 8 sts, make 2 SC into the next st, continue to SC along the other side of the slipper, sl st to join. Weave in any loose ends and add any embellishments you desire. (i.e bow, buttons, crochet flowers, etc...)

Voila! You have completed your Mary Jane Slipper! Please feel free to ask me any questions....thanks for stopping by!
